Although I am a graduate of the prestigious “Great Books” program and have been exposed to a myriad of literary styles, upon reading “Serch Bythol” I was reduced to a single syllable: “WOW”. The book opens beautifully and grasps you in its elegant and nurturing clutches. It is not a book you will want to put down. In terms of language in description, prose, and dialogue, the book does nothing short of excel: alliteration and colorful phrases abound but are never used in excess. “Serch Bythol” is like liquid chocolate for the brain!

All this is not to say that the plot is lacking. Not by a long shot! The story has many twists and turns and is never for a moment predictable. Love reigns supreme in this superlative volume, and it is inclusive without being heavy-handed or obvious.

About Us

Deborah Brenner, a cosmopolitan spirit, grew up between New York and Los Angeles. A former model and dancer turned editor, writer, and teacher, she found her passion for writing early on. Her fascination with the mystical and quest for truth is evident in her upcoming novel "Expecting to Fly," a vibrant tale set in the 1970s and 1980s rock scene, and other projects including a historical novel about the Tuatha de Danann.

Kaya Gabsy, a lifelong New Yorker, embodies a spirit of infinite creativity. Homeschooled with New York City as her classroom, she discovered that imagination was her most profound teacher. Collaborating with her sister Sara on various creative projects, Kaya's storytelling echoes through her works, including a novel-in-progress, "Lavercolitca," set in a multi-dimensional universe.

This piece was created by our beloved friend Tod Jackson, godfather to Kaya and Sara and an integral part of the Tammabukku journey from its earliest days. Tod is woven into the DNA of The Tammabukku Chronicles. He possessed that rare gift of existing on the same creative wavelength—of understanding without explanation, of seeing the shape of stories before they had fully emerged. His first play, Journey, became a major inspiration behind the series, helping to ignite ideas that would eventually blossom into the world you are about to enter. We offer this image as both an invitation and a tribute: a reminder that no great journey is undertaken alone, and that some fellow travelers help shape our destinies long before we understand where the road is leading. Certain souls arrive in our lives not by accident but by appointment. They become teachers, companions, muses, protectors, and co-creators of the paths we walk. Tod has been all of these. Welcome. The journey is about to begin.

This painting is Eye Eye by Brooke Halpin, editor of the first four books of The Tammabukku Chronicles and the composer and musical director of Tod Jackson's Journey.

There are some people who pass briefly through a creative endeavor, offering encouragement from the sidelines. And then there are those rare souls whose fingerprints become woven into the work itself. Brooke Halpin has been one of those souls. His contributions to The Tammabukku Chronicles have extended far beyond editing. Time and again, he saw what we were striving to create even when we struggled to articulate it ourselves. He challenged us to go deeper, helped untangle complexities, strengthened storylines, refined form, and reminded us of the heart beating beneath every page. His insight, artistry, honesty, and unwavering commitment to the integrity of these books have helped shape this series in ways both visible and invisible. The Tammabukku journey has always been one of fellow travelers finding one another at precisely the right moments. Brooke has been one of those fellow travelers. Whether discussing a single sentence, reimagining the structure of an entire novel, or helping us navigate the inevitable storms that accompany a project of this scope, his influence has left an indelible mark upon this work. There are no words sufficient to express our gratitude. What we can say is this: The Tammabukku Chronicles would not be what they are without Brooke Halpin. His magical touch is woven into the fabric of this journey, and for that, we will always be thankful.
